The Seagull
Nina’s Lament
art is an extension of the self,
not your purpose for living.
Grieve.
The artists struggle in this commercial world of loud and superficial art. They escape into nature in hope of reconnection and inspiration. However, isolation led to chaos and unrequited love took hold of the players. They are damaged and ugly, desperate and curious. Craving a new lease on life.
Create.
Nina’s relationship with Konstantin, and later Trigorin, are both forged and powered by artistic ambition and reckless passion. They sacrifice personally in pursuit of absolute art. Creating art is the purest spark and essence they encounter. Art is Nina’s one true love, it trumps all else.
Grow.
Nina is an erratically passionate and bright person, who believes herself an actress. She once fell victim to toxic love, but she is determined to regain her sanity and autonomy. She discovers her true love: acting. She finds peace and strength in her realization, firm in her roots, and confident in herself.
